Problems when playing Audio CDs

A burned CD is bieng played but there is no sound.

Presumably WinOnCD / PacketCD is or was installed. Some driver versions of the files C2REC.VXD and C2APIX.VXD (both in the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory) cause this phenomenon.

Please remove the drivers mentioned (e.g. by deinstallation). Refer also to drivers of other CD burner programs.

If you use MP3 burning files on an audio CD and you can't hear anything off the burned CD, then it is possible that the MP3 file is defective or been created with errors. For example, some versions of Blade Encoder create incorrect MP3 files of this kind if the calculation of the checksum is activated. The checksum is thereby set to 0 and the encoder from the Fraunhofer Institute used by Nero reproduces silence if the checksum is incorrect. You can check this by playing the MP3-file with Nero yourself. This type of behavious complies with ISO norm.
Some types of CD Writer create this type of audio CDs if the option DMA is activated. Please deactivate this option (see DMA Option)
When playing an audio CD, the tracks are each played for 10s and then it moves on track to the next.

Please check of the problem is solved by removing the file SCSI1HLP.VXD (Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory)(after subsequent new start).

. CD-Text has been selected but there is no CD-Text information.
It is possible that you burned a Mixed Mode CD. Up to Nero 4.0.3.5, CD-Text can be activated for Mixed Mode CDs which however is ignored despite this.
Or your burner can not understand CD-Text. If you initially burned on the image recorder and then want to burn the image, then the CD-Text information will be lost!

In the case of a written audio CD, the first track is not played at all (e.g. a hum) but the other tracks are played fine.

this phenomenon occurs if you try to play a Mixed Mode CD. The first track consists of data (even if WAV files have been dragged over it) and the others of audio information.

Audio CDs can not be played.

For test purposes please deactivate the DMA deactivate support for the drive in the Device Manager.
Please get hold of a more up-to-date version of the file ESDI_506.PDR (see recommended updates).
If you use Nero using 3.0 and you are using a Pioneer CD-ROM and not at least Nero 3.0.7.0 then please update to Nero 3.0.7.1 or to Nero 4.0
If you newly create a CD-RW and you try to play this on an Audio CD Player, then this is norma as hardly any Audio CD Players can read from CD-RWs.
Numerous audio CD players are not able to read CDs that have not been fixed.
An audio CD is not recognized by the CD-player if the CD was burned in ISO format. Please do not select the icon ISO CD-ROM but select the icon Audio CD.

If you are using a Memorex 1622, then you appear to be using a firmware version prior to D3.6

If you use one of the following types of CD Writer use

Grundig CDR100IPW, HP 4020, Kodak CDR240, Mitsubishi CDVR2X4, Mitsumi CD-R CR-2401TS, Philips CDD2000, Plasmon CDR4220, Plasmon RF4100, Plasmon RF4102, Wearnes CDR-432

then you should at least update to firmware 1.25.

Please ensure that you have used Audio CD to create audio CDs and not CD-ROM (ISO).
There are pauses betweent the tracks:

Between the first and second audio track there is a 2s pause, even though the pause was set to 0s.

Please remove the following files from the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory: ASAPI.VXD, REGTAPE.VXD, DRVW*.VXD

If the audio CD player can not jump directly to the tracks, then it may be possible to solve the problem by burning with 1x and with DAO as some audio CD players can only read correctly from CDs which were burned in the DAO mode and some types of CD Writer have problems writing on low-quality CD blanks, as e.g. the TEAC CDR55S.
The last 5s of every track are always repeated when playing.

The last seconds of the tracks are missing. Presumably the option Remove Silence at the End of the Tracks is activated. Deactivate this option.
The sound quality is bad, irregularities occur. Disc-At-Once (DAO) mode was used to burn.

A load of current CD-burners have got problems burning in DAO mode. If you have a burner like this, then please burn in TAO mode and set the option Fixation manual:

in the registration care burn the burning method Disc-At-Once message when changing.
in the same registration card activate the option CD fixation .
