If you are still using Windows 95 (not 98), then you should make sure that the drivers ESDI_506.PDR and VOLTRACK.VXD are up-to-date. In particular if you are using a UDMA IDE controller.

If the drivers you are using are more up-to-date that the drivers included in the file REMIDEUP.EXE, then of course your drivers will not be replaced by the older ones.

If you are using a mainboard with an Intel chip set, Windows 95 (until OSR2) and the busmaster driver is being used, then please update the busmaster driver to at least version 3.02, as this is the earliest version to correctly support CD-Rs and CD-RWs.

Whether Nero is even affected by the problems described is not known.

If you are using the original Windows 95 version and an Adaptec 1542 SCSI controller as well, then you should download the following file:

Reason: Newer versions of the Adaptec WinASPI driver layer cause problems with the Aha154x.mpd miniport driver supplied with the original Windows 95.

Installation of the new driver:

1. After downloading the file A333.exe double-click this file. Then the file AHA154.MPD will be created.

2. Start the computer again. If the message appears "Windows 95 is being started", then please press the F8 key and select in the menu 'MS-DOS input request'

3. Now enter the following command:

cd windows\system\iosubsys

4. Now enter the following command:

ren aha154x.mpd aha154x.xxx

5. Now change into the directory in which the program A333.EXE has written the new file AHA154X.MPD.

6. Now enter the following command:

copy aha154x.mpd c:\windows\system\iosubsys

7. Start the computer again.

If you are using a Triton II or a mainboard based on Natoma and you see the following lines in the Device Manager in the harddisk controller

Primary IDE Controller (single FIFO)

Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller

Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller

then your Windows 95 version does not recognize the 82371SB PIIX3 controller.

In this case the file mshdc.inf must be replaced by a corrected one: ftp://ftp.intel.com/pub/patch/ideinfup.exe

If you are using Windows 95 and a mainboard with one of the following Intel chip sets
