If your WinASPI driver layer is no longer correctly installed, then you can correct this either by updating the WinASPI drivers (Adaptec WinASPI drivers) or you can copy the original Windows 95/98 ASPI driver from the CD onto the harddisk:

For Windows 95:

• extract /e d:\win95\win95_03.cab wnaspi32.dll
• extract /e d:\win95\win95_03.cab winaspi.dll
• extract /e d:\win95\win95_03.cab apix.vxd
• extract /e d:\win95\win95_03.cab aspi2hlp.sys

For Windows 98 (CD version)

• extract /e d:\win98\win98_40.cab wnaspi32.dll
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_40.cab winaspi.dll
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_47.cab apix.vxd
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_46.cab aspi2hlp.sys

For Windows 98 (Disk version):

• extract /e d:\win98\win98_35.cab wnaspi32.dll (Diskette 30)
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_34.cab winaspi.dll (Diskette 29)
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_40.cab apix.vxd (Diskette 35)
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_39.cab aspi2hlp.sys (Diskette 34)

For Windows 98SE:

• extract /e d:\win98\win98_42.cab wnaspi32.dll
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_42.cab winaspi.dll
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_50.cab apix.vxd
• extract /e d:\win98\win98_48.cab aspi2hlp.sys

If you do not find the given files in the corresponding cabinet files, then you can use the method given in Extracting Windows files to have the WinASPI drivers extracted.
